2020 Recital
In March of 2020 we all became part of history, being part of the isolation requirement caused by a worldwide pandemic.
We quickly learned new skills, such as setting up zoom classes, recording videos and setting up sound mixers! Our parents moved furniture and set up dance space. Our students showed amazing talent for learning virtually and we kept on dancing. I think we actually only missed one week of class just getting our in-home studio setup.
We all hoped that by June, the restrictions would be lifted and we would be able to hold our dance recital. But as the date came closer it became evident this would not be the case. Even outside options came with such limitations it was not a viable option.
So again we learned a new skill….video editing! We recorded each class in costume performing their dances and put together a video recital.
Our themes were sports and Faire Croie, a story about dolls.
Our girls showed that not only could they dance but they also could incorporate their knowledge of sports into some really fun dances. From race car drives, referees, volleyball players, hockey players, basketball, to cheerleaders we had it all!
Faire Croie - was a charming story about a girl who at a party her mother is hosting for other moms and daughters, reveals that her dolls come to life. You can imaging the surprise when our dancers brought to life; baby dolls, Fashion Dolls, Rag Dolls, and Princess Dolls.
In lieu of a finale’ the dancers sent in photos which were put into a slide show with their names. We held a viewing party over Zoom and invited our families to join us in a wonderful, albeit different recital!
Our dancers never cease to amaze us.
