2021 Recital

On June 6th 2021 we held our 20th Dance Recital!

It is hard to believe it has been 20 years since Ms Rose (our teacher) retired and we inherited Rosemarion Thompson Dance Studios. One of our fears at that time was that we would let Ms Rose down. We are so thankful that for the past 20 years, with the help of our wonderful dance family, we have kept her dream alive.

Our themes this year were Songs from Previous years, and The Dancing Princesses.

There has always been pieces that we have choreographed that have held special meaning for us, or were just enjoyed by the dancers and audience. We pulled a few of those songs for this year’s recital including; We Got the Beat, Stompin at the Savoy, Summertime, Shake it Up, Ruby Blue and of course there had to be a kickline!

The Dancing Princess was challenging, as there was much interaction between the dancers, and we were virtual through March! The girls came together and gave a wonderful performance of the classic story. Their personalities again shined though the character that they gave each princess.

This recital was special, as we all came out of isolation from the pandemic. It was a very difficult and sad year for some. Our dancers have shown a resiliency and strength that is amazing. They are not only talented but amazing young ladies.

Our senior dancers came back to join us for a few numbers. One of which was their dance from 2020 which was not included in the 2020 virtual recital as it had to be performed together. The dance was done with a rope. This dance brought home the way we all made it through a very difficult time, by holding on to our faith, family, friends, and hope. We found a strength I don’t think we knew we had, but we HELD ON.

There was a lot of joy at this year’s recital too, with cake after to celebrate our anniversary, and the announcement that one of our senior dancers will be getting married in August. We wish Tori much joy and love in her marriage, she will be missed in class!
